Retirees!  Check your inventory of Prescription Medications!

Retirees are encouraged to "stock-up" as much as allowed by SHBP policy on your regular prescriptions prior to January 1, 2008.  On that date the SHBP will begin using United Healthcare (UHC) as the new Prescription Benefit Manager (PBM) for prescription services.  As with any changeover to a new vendor, problems with getting your prescriptions filled on a timely basis may occur.  Make sure you have adequate prescription supplies on hand well before the transfer date.  Don't wait.

In addition GSRA suggests that you review the preferred drug list and determine if your pharmacy is in the Medco network, which is the network used by UHC.  Although 2008 drug information is not yet posted on the UHC public web site, you can review the 2007 network and drug benefits there.

Also see the GSRA October newsletter for a news article about this change.
